Orbán cabinet calls for fight against drugs after brutal murder

“There are no light or heavy drugs … drug dealers and drug abuse must be eliminiated,” the government commissioner in charge of efforts to fight drug trafficking said in connection with a recent murder in south-western Hungary’s Somogy county, on Sunday.

László Horváth said in a video broadcast on Facebook that “drugs will kill and can make you a murderer”. He said the killer in Fonó village “regularly took marijuana and designer drugs, the effect of which is unpredictable.” “The perpetrator is now behind bars, but those selling drugs to people are also murderers and must be prosecuted,” the commissioner said.

The 31-year-old suspect in the case assaulted passers-by in the street and an assistant in a shop in Fonó on Friday afternoon. The shop-assistant died on the spot, while the two others were hospitalised with serious injuries. The attacker fled from the site but his car crashed in Siófok, at Lake Balaton, and he was arrested.
