Kazakhstan welcomes foreign specialists and “neo-nomads”

At the end of 2024, Kazakhstan’s new visa issuance rules went into effect as a result of cooperative work by the Ministries of Tourism and Sports, Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, and other relevant government authorities. Our country is now on the travel map for modern nomads. Their global population exceeds 35 million, and the government intends to establish all essential circumstances to lure them to Kazakhstan. Furthermore, Almaty and Astana are already among the top 150 cities that attract neo-nomads.

The innovations include:

  • «B9» visa – for representatives of in-demand professions, allowing them to continue to obtain a residence permit in Kazakhstan;
  • «Digital Nomad Visa» – a single-entry electronic or multi-entry paper visa for IT specialists, allowing them to live permanently in Kazakhstan;

  • «Neo Nomad Visa». To obtain the Neo Nomad Tourist Visa, a foreign national must demonstrate a stable income of at least $3,000 per month outside of Kazakhstan. In addition to the income requirement, applicants must also provide proof of medical insurance and a certificate of no criminal record. This visa is designed for remote workers in a variety of fields, including programming, marketing, finance, consulting, design and e-commerce. Foreign tourists can stay in Kazakhstan for up to one year while continuing to be employed by their foreign companies.

Significant reduction in the list of required documents for the «C5» business visa, as well as a reduction in the minimum requirement for family reunification visas based on marital and family relationships from 3 years to 1 year.
