New Hungarian grape-based gin developed

Vintner Danubiana and the University of Pécs (SW Hungary) have developed graped-based gin products and distilling technology in a project supported with close to HUF 430m in European Union and state funding, the school told MTI.
Around 1,000 bottles of the gin will be sold on the domestic market, as a start, and the product could be introduced on foreign markets later.

Danubiana is owned by France’s Groupe GCF. It partners with over 400 local grape producers and sells around 13 million litres of wine a year, in Hungary and abroad. Danubiana had turnover of EUR 17m in 2024.
