Foot-and-mouth disease spreads to more farms in Hungary, disinfection points at borders and on motorways

Foot-and-mouth disease has been detected at two more farms in Győr-Moson-Sopron County, in the west of Hungary, Agriculture Minister István Nagy said in a video message posted on social media on Wednesday.

Nagy said the disease had been detected at a farm with 1,000 cows in Darnózseli and another in Dunakiliti with 2,500 head. To contain the outbreak, disinfectant stations have been ordered at all crossings along the border with Slovakia from Rajka to Esztergom, he said. The use of disinfectant mats has also been ordered at access points to the M1 motorway between Hegyeshalom and Bőny, he added. The Hungarian Defence Forces are assisting with the measures.
